Regional Veterans’ Employment Coordinator

Roxann Griffith began serving as the Regional Veterans’ Employment Coordinator (Dallas Region) for the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), Veterans’ Employment and Training Service (VETS) in 2015. Roxann provides employment resources and expertise through outreach to businesses, employer groups, veterans’ organizations, state workforce partners, and government agencies. The mission is to promote veterans’ employment opportunities and the Veterans’ Employment and Training Service in Arkansas, Colorado, Louisiana, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, Utah and Wyoming. Since taking this role, she has worked with companies like Amazon, Fujitsu, Marriott, Mercuria, Toyota, Sunbelt Rentals, FastPort, Service King, Southwest Airlines, Kohl’s, La Quinta, HMS, DART, Aramark, UPS, FedEx, DHL, Fox News, Cisco, Raytheon, Starbucks, L-3 Communications, Delta Airlines, FEMA, GameStop, Frito Lay, Johnson & Johnson, Lockheed Martin, Medsynergies, Comcast, T-Mobile, ATT, Verizon, Department of Veterans Affairs, Social Security Administration, OSHA, OFCCP, Starz Network, U.S. Border Patrol, Time Warner, Volt, Walmart, American Airlines, 7-Eleven, TD Industries, New Orleans Police Department, Addison Police Department, Huffines Auto, JB Hunt and several other organizations; on building and developing their veterans initiatives to meet the needs of their organization as well as meet their hiring goals and utilizing DOL Resources such as the apprenticeship program. She has presented to the executive management of these organizations as well as their Human Resources staff in an effort to aid them in making more informed decisions when updating or changing their programs or rewriting their job descriptions to better target the veteran population. She has also delivered different targeted presentations and workshops to the Transitioning Service Member, Veteran and spouse population at Ft. Carson Army Post, Joint Base San Antonio, the Army Reserve Unit in Houston, Joint Base Lewis McChord, Ft. Bliss, Allen Economic Development Corporation, Frisco Chamber of Commerce, Dallas HR, NPower and in Dallas and Denver at the Department of Labor’s Regional Meetings. She works closely with Chambers of Commerce throughout Texas, Louisiana and New Mexico as well as directly partnering with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington DC at their many Hiring Our Heroes events nationwide. She has covered events in her region as well as in the Western Region, filling in when the need arose at events in Washington State. She has also consulted with the National Veterans Training Institute on their curriculum; editing it and providing guidance, written documents and training materials for use to train new hires to the Jobs for Veterans State Grants program. Roxann brings over 20 years of professional service as both a US Air Force veteran and the Assistant Regional Manager for the Texas Veterans Commission. Roxann began her USAF career as an Electrical Engineer but with career progression worked as a Supervisor, Personnel Reliability Program Certifier and Security Manager, and upon retirement in 2012, she was serving in the Operations Manager role for the largest Aircraft Maintenance Unit in the Air Force. Throughout her Air Force career, she supported both Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. She received several decorations to include a Commendation Award from the Inspector General of the Department of Defense. As a civilian, Roxann’s passion to serve veterans drove her to seek employment with the Texas Veterans Commission where she began as a Local Veterans Employment Representative (LVER). Roxann worked closely with several employers advocating veteran employment, advising how to write their job postings to attract veterans, organizing job fairs and hiring events, and developing veteran appreciation incentive programs to increase retention of the veteran staff. Her work ethic and motivation quickly propelled her forward in her career and she was promoted to a Lead within her first year. Shortly thereafter she was promoted to the Assistant Regional Manager in the North East Texas Region, to include the Dallas and Fort Worth metropolis. She also served as an interim Regional Manager until her move to the Department of Labor. As a manager, Roxann continued to work closely with employers and the local workforce boards planning statewide hiring events (Red, White and You), Veteran appreciation events, and conferences. She was also engaged in the Veterans Strategic Initiative – a platform that introduces employers to the Texas Workforce Commission and trains them on being more veteran friendly, teaching them about military culture and careers, and providing promising practices on attracting veterans to their open positions. Roxann was recognized in September 2014 by former Governor Rick Perry as one of the Outstanding Woman in Texas Government. An advocate in her community, Roxann also belongs to several Chambers of Commerce and on the two Veterans Day planning committees. She also partners with the Homes for Heroes, Veteran of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Disabled American Veterans as well as the Veteran County Service Officers of Texas to promote several initiatives to assist veterans. Roxann’s most recent degree is a Master’s of Science in Organizational Management and Performance Improvement with a concentration in Human Resources from Grantham University. She’s currently working on a PhD program in Organizational Management and International Business at Trident University International with a graduation date of 2019. She resides in Dallas, Texas with her family.
