Maria Lönnberg

Science & Innovation Officer

Maria Lönnberg serves as the Science and Innovation Officer at the Embassy of Sweden in Washington DC. Prior to her current position Maria was the Executive Director at the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce, Washington DC. In the past Maria spent numerous years working for Ericsson in various business development positions in Stockholm, Dallas and Menlo Park, CA. In Menlo Park she was Director and head of a unit working with Internet applications, including partnering, technical development and pre-sales. She also brings experience from a US start up working with embedded software as Director, Strategic Marketing. Maria started her career as R&D engineer at Sandvik, a materials technology company.

Maria has spent more than 20 years in the US, about half of them in the Washington DC area. She has also lived in Beijing, China, where she was a Board member at International School of Beijing, ISB.

Maria has a M.Sc. in Engineering Physics from the Royal institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm and an MBA from INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France.
