Founder Jay Martin, CP, FAAOP was invited by NASA to help create Ironman-like exoskeleton suits for space and military applications. Through working with NASA he discovered and created counter-intuitive new methods of how to make prosthetics more comfortable. He then set out to create the most comfortable sockets on earth… and the Socket-less Socket™ was born. Now thousands of amputees around the world are gaining quality of life back through more comfortable sockets.

Tom Jobe – Friday Plenary Session

Biomedical and Biotechnology Talk – This presentation will describe how the many forms of biosensors perform necessary functions in research, medicine and industrial uses. It will describe recent developments that allow biosensors to be used to reduce resources in power, materials, and cost while improving our quality of life.

Mr. Jobe holds BS and MS Engineering degrees from Oklahoma State University. He spent 10 years
in the energy business as an instrument developer before moving to Corazonix of OKC in 1987 to
develop hi-res ECG equipment. In 1990, he began a 15-year career as developer and manager of medical diagnostic instruments with Organon Teknika & BioMerieux, where he led the development of microbiology, coagulation, and nucleic acid diagnostics instrumentation. In 2005, he became Business Manager for the SensiQ division of Nomadics, directing the development of biosensor-based Life Science equipment for pharma and biotechnology applications. After SensiQ spun out of Nomadics to become SensiQ Technologies, he directed the company’s R&D, manufacturing and commercialization efforts as Chief Operating Officer. After SensiQ Technologies was acquired by Pall Life Sciences in 2017, Mr. Jobe co-founded startups BioInSpire of Oklahoma City and Essai Sciences of Stillwater. BioInSpire provides consulting services to life sciences clients while Essai Sciences provides biomolecular interaction analysis of pharmaceutical compounds. He has served on the Engineering Industry Advisory Boards at the University of Central Oklahoma, OSU-OKC and the Stephenson School of Biomedical Engineering at OU-Norman. Mr. Jobe is a past Chair of the Engineering in Medicine and Technology Management Chapters of Oklahoma City and a member of IEEE for over 20 years, serving as a Distinguished Lecturer for the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society for 2016-2018.

Telecommunications companies and gadget makers are talking about how big 5G was going to be in 2020. Over the next decade, 5G is set to change the way underserved communities access high-speed data and allow a faster and greater flow of information between devices.

Carriers began launch of 5G in select markets. Still, the rollout in most places will continue to take time, as will the payoff: blistering fast wireless speeds and network responsiveness on our phones, improved self-driving cars and augmented reality, remote surgery, and entire smart cities.

The IoT is trying to solve problems across those markets, and that is driving a change in how players in the IoT space need to think and operate. Sensing is becoming increasingly multimodal and media-driven. Real-time insights are required to support decision-control loops that operate in microsecond to millisecond timescales for mission-critical industrial control and processing. Edge intelligence and low-latency quality of service will support the next generation of immersive user experiences. This talk will also discuss how moving computation to the edge helps to increase data privacy & security for user/enterprise and diverse geographies
With the advent of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML), real-time data-analytics can be performed on the data to provide predictive and preventive analytics for smart connected things in the connected world

The talk will focus on three principal applications/use cases – namely, Smart Healthcare, Smart Mobility & Autonomous Vehicles, and Smart Cities.

David E. Albert, MD, an Oklahoma native, is a physician, inventor and serial entrepreneur who has developed medical and other life-saving technologies and products over the last 30 years, turning a number of those innovations into tech startups. Today, he is a founder of three technology companies, InnovAlarm, Lifetone Technology and AliveCor. His previous startups include Corazonix Corp (sold to Arrhythmia Research Technology) and Data Critical (sold to GE). Dr. Albert left GE in 2004 as Chief Scientist of GE Cardiology to disrupt several new markets.

His latest invention, AliveCor Mobile ECG, became a global sensation via a four-minute YouTube Video in January 2011 around the Consumer Electronics Show and was featured on ABC, CBS, CNN and Fox News among many other media outlets. Dr. Albert has 32 issued US patents, a large number pending and several new “secret inventions” in development. He has authored or co-authored over 50 scientific abstracts and publications principally in the Cardiology literature. Dr. Albert has lectured at the Entrepreneurship programs at the MIT Sloan School and the University of Oklahoma. Dr. Albert graduated with Honors from Harvard College and from Duke University Medical School.
