Malaysia Prime Minister, Dato’ Sri Najib Tun Razak has endorsed the smart city initiative in the Global Science and Innovation Advisory Council in May 2012, with a vision to benefit and transform the living standards of people in Malaysia through a sustainable economic and technology ecosystem. This initiative will also empower and connect rural countries towards a smart and inclusive socio economic growth, focusing on the use of green technology and ICT (Information and communications technology). Iskandar Malaysia is selected as the location for this pilot project.

The keynote speaker on behalf of Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA) will address current Smart City Iskandar Malaysia initiatives, progress made and future goals.
